An Invitation from Supreme Princess Royal Laura
The waterfront city of Tampa is located along the sparkling waters of Florida’s west coast and offers bright sunny days and gentle bay breezes. It is the perfect setting for the “Sand & Sea Fun in the Sun 95th Annual Supreme Session.” I am delighted to invite you to join the Sea Treasures Reigning Queens for a fun-filled and memorable week.
The Tampa Convention Center, the primary venue for the week’s activities, is conveniently located directly on the waterfront in the heart of the downtown and within walking distance of our two hotels. Buses will not be needed, as the Marriott Hotel is a 200-step walk along the waterfront to the Convention Center. The Embassy Suites Hotel is a short 100 steps from the skywalk to the convention center.
The daily business sessions will be held on the main floor and adjacent to the Shop ‘til You Drop market. All evening activities will be located in the Exhibit Hall.
Our airport greeters will be there to meet you if you are arriving by plane. The Tampa Airport is only seven miles from the downtown. Reasonably priced shuttle information is included in this packet. If you are driving, parking is available in the Convention Center garage for $5.00 a day or overnight. (No in and out privileges.)
“Ahoy Mateys! Thar be treasures of doubloons and sparkling Pirate beads for all to see!” Our welcome to Tampa dinner and party on Saturday evening is a “Pirate Fest.” Come dressed as a pirate and experience the Daughters of the Nile Invasion of Tampa. You will be our TREASURES for the week.
Your Supreme Session 2011 committee has planned a non-denominational Worship Service for Sunday morning at 9:45 a.m. At the commencement of this Supreme Session, we invite you to come and worship in fellowship with us.
Tampa is the home of Shriners International Headquarters and Shriners Hospital for Children® -Tampa. Our Pre & Post Tours and Men’s Tours Committ ees have selected activities for your entertainment. Please see the Tours section of this packet. You may also be interested in many attractions, which are a short walk or a trolley ride from your hotel. A trolley and streetcar station is located outside the front doors of your hotel.
The Marriott’s elegant ballroom is the setting for “A Night of Enchantment” as everyone gets dressed up on Monday evening for our get-together banquet of mouth-watering delights.
On the second floor of the convention center, you will be seated at the delegates’ banquet, the “Jewels of the Sea,” where the windows will give you a spectacular waterside and city-side panoramic view. After a delicious dinner, the Tuesday evening performances await you, just a few steps away in the Exhibit Hall.
This year we have planned a dinner for Men Only on Tuesday evening. While the delegates are having their banquet, the “Masters of the Sea” will be dining and having a special program in another room hosted by the Illustrious Sir of Egypt Shriners and Rocky Creek Chapter No. 76 Gentlemen of the Creeks. We look forward to all of the Nobles and guests being able to enjoy this unique evening.
On Tuesday we have added a Unit luncheon—A CLOWN LUNCHEON. Last year our program of Unit performances included more Clown Units than ever before. Now the Clowns will have their special time together to discuss costumes, skits and just “clown around.” Please see the Food Event Form to select this meal.
On Thursday, the “Treasures from the Sea” will be welcomed to the Ladies of the Household luncheon. We think that each of you is a TREASURE and should be treated, not just as a Princess, but also as a Treasure of your Temple. Please join all of our members for a tasty and fun time in the beautiful ballroom of the convention center for our final Supreme Session activity before the Installation Ceremony.
Educational Breakout Sessions will be offered on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon. This will give each participant the opportunity to attend two workshops, instead of just one. Based on your input, a variety of topics have been chosen. You must pre-register on the Breakout Sessions form included in this packet and receive a ticket for admission, which will be in your registration packet. This procedure will ensure that all sessions have adequate room space and handouts.
Everyone looks forward to being entertained by our Unit performances, and the Units look forward to performing for us. There has been an increase in the number of Uniformed Units who are on the program; thus, making late evenings. In order to enjoy every one of the performing Units, we have made the decision to shorten each performance by one minute. If you compute the figures, the evenings should then be about 45-60 minutes shorter, depending on the number of scheduled performances. With an earlier evening, everyone should be able to stay and watch the entertainment till the end of the program.
After much thought and consideration, the Supreme Session 2011 Committee has decided to have the Installation Reception without catered food and open to all members and guests. We realize that many of our participants have not had time to eat dinner prior to the beginning of the ceremony, and after the Installation Program, are anxious to have dinner. Therefore, we are inviting everyone to come to the Convention Center Rotunda/Atrium/Riverwalk after the Installation to celebrate and congratulate all of the officers.
Please read the registration packet information carefully and adhere to the deadlines. Please submit your registration form immediately as a registration number is required to submit all other forms.
The members of Elim Temple, all of the Florida Temples, and the entire Tampa Community are ready to welcome you with open arms. See you in June!!!!!
